Gate Valve

What Are Gate Valves?

Gate valves are linear-motion industrial valves designed primarily for on-off isolation service. A flat or wedge-shaped gate moves perpendicular to the flow path, rising out of the flow stream when the valve is fully open to provide an unobstructed full-bore passage. This design results in minimal pressure drop across the valve — making gate valves commonly selected for pipeline applications where flow resistance must be kept as low as possible.

Available through the Honiks sourcing network, gate valves are supplied in standard and bellow seal configurations. Standard gate valves with bolted bonnets and wedge-type gates serve general industrial isolation needs. Bellow seal gate valves add a multi-ply metallic bellow assembly around the stem to help reduce external stem-leakage risk, making them suitable for emission-controlled service where leakage through conventional stem packing is a concern.

Gate valves sourced by Honiks cover EN/DIN and ANSI product families. EN/DIN reference coverage is DN50–DN1000 and PN16–PN100. ANSI ranges are model-specific: HN69 and HN70 are globe/gate families with 1/2–3 inch and 2–16 inch reference sizes respectively, both with Class 150–1500 references; HN100 is NPS 2–48 and Class 150–2500; HN101 is NPS 2–36 and Class 900/1500/2500. These ranges vary by pressure class, end connection and configuration. Flanged and butt-welded options are available on selected configurations; confirm size, class, material and end connection against the product page and approved project documents.

EN/DIN and ANSI Gate Valves

EN/DIN gate valves: DN50-DN1000, PN16-PN100. Manufactured to relevant EN standards with EN1092-1 flanged or butt-welded connections. ISO 5210 top flange available for actuator adaptation on larger sizes.
ANSI gate valve configurations: Model-specific reference ranges include HN69 and HN70 globe/gate families, HN100 NPS 2–48 with Class 150–2500 references, and HN101 NPS 2–36 with Class 900/1500/2500 references, subject to pressure class, end connection and configuration. ANSI B16.5, ANSI B16.25, ANSI B16.10, API 600 and other design references apply according to the offered model and configuration; confirm the final valve type, size, class, material and end connection against the product page and approved project documents.

Standard vs Bellow Seal Gate Valves

Standard gate valves use compression packing with a bolted gland to seal the stem. This is the most common and economical configuration for general industrial isolation service where the occasional gland adjustment or repacking is not a concern.

Bellow seal gate valves incorporate a welded bellow assembly that provides the primary stem seal. This helps reduce fugitive-emission risk at the stem and may extend maintenance intervals. A secondary packing ring remains in place as an emergency backup. Bellow seal gate valves are specified for hazardous media, high-temperature thermal oil, steam systems, and any application governed by strict emission control requirements.

Materials

Gate valves sourced through Honiks are available in carbon steel (A216 WCB), alloy steel (A217 WC6) and stainless steel (A351 CF8M). Wedge and seat materials are selected according to the service medium and can include 13Cr, Stellite overlay, or other hard-facing options. Working temperature and pressure ratings are material-dependent and should be confirmed against the applicable standard.

Why Source Gate Valves Through Honiks?

Honiks Valve works as a valve supply partner, a factory-backed valve supplier. We connect international buyers with qualified Chinese factories capable of producing gate valves to the required standard, size and material specification. Our scope covers supplier qualification, documentation coordination, quality inspection support and export logistics — helping procurement teams reduce sourcing time and complexity when purchasing industrial gate valves from China.
