Forged Steel Valves

What Are Forged Steel Valves?

Forged steel valves are industrial valves manufactured from forged steel bodies rather than cast steel. The forging process compresses the steel grain structure under high pressure, resulting in a denser material with superior mechanical strength, improved fatigue resistance, and better pressure-containment capability compared to cast alternatives. These properties make forged steel valves the preferred choice for compact, high-pressure small-bore applications where weight, space and pressure integrity are critical design factors.

Available through the Honiks sourcing network, forged steel valves are supplied in both globe valve and bellow seal configurations. Standard forged globe valves provide reliable shut-off and throttling service for general high-pressure applications. Bellow seal forged valves add a multi-ply stainless steel bellow assembly to eliminate stem leakage, making them suitable for emission-controlled service involving steam, hydrocarbons and hazardous media.

Forged steel valves sourced by Honiks are typically specified in smaller bore sizes — DN15 to DN50 in EN/DIN standards and 1/2 inch to 3 inch in ANSI standards — with pressure ratings extending to PN160 for EN/DIN products and Class 1500 for ANSI products. This combination of small bore geometry and high-pressure capability makes forged valves the standard choice for instrumentation lines, sampling systems, bypass circuits and compact piping installations across the power generation, oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical industries.

Typical Applications

High-pressure steam lines: Compact forged globe and bellow seal valves for saturated and superheated steam at elevated pressures in power plants and industrial steam systems.
Oil and gas wellhead and gathering: Small-bore isolation and flow control in upstream production facilities where high-pressure ratings and forged body integrity are required.
Chemical injection systems: Precision flow control for chemical dosing, inhibitor injection and sampling lines in process plants.
Instrument and bypass lines: Isolation and throttling valves for pressure gauges, level indicators, flow meters and bypass circuits around larger process valves.
Gas processing and transmission: Compact forged valves for natural gas metering, regulation and auxiliary systems in gas plants and compressor stations.

Forged Globe and Bellow Seal Options

The forging process is particularly well suited to globe valve construction because the compact body geometry aligns with the size and shape limitations of forging dies. Both standard and bellow seal configurations are available:

Forged globe valves: Standard rising stem design with renewable seat for shut-off and throttling. Available in EN/DIN and ANSI configurations with butt-welded, socket welded, NPT threaded and project-specific flanged connections.
Forged bellow seal globe valves: Incorporate a welded multi-ply bellow to eliminate stem leakage. A secondary graphite packing ring provides emergency backup containment. These are specified for hazardous media, high-temperature thermal fluids, steam systems and any application where fugitive emission control is a regulatory or safety requirement.

The current Honiks forged valve catalogue includes EN/DIN forged globe valves for projects requiring European standards, and ANSI Class 150-1500 forged bellow seal globe/gate valves for projects specifying American standards — with both globe and gate valve configurations available within the same product series.

Materials and Pressure Ratings

Forged steel valves sourced through Honiks are available in forged carbon steel (A105) and forged stainless steel (F316) as typical material options. The forging process produces a homogeneous material structure with no casting defects such as porosity or shrinkage, contributing to consistent pressure-containment performance across the full pressure rating range.

Working temperature and pressure ratings are material-dependent. For EN/DIN valves, the EN12516-1 P-T table applies. For ANSI valves, the ASME B16.34 P-T table determines allowable working pressure at the operating temperature. Material selection — carbon steel versus stainless steel — should be based on the service medium, design temperature and corrosion considerations for the specific application.

Why Source Forged Steel Valves Through Honiks?

Honiks Valve is a China-based factory-backed industrial valve supplier, a factory-backed valve supplier. For international buyers, working with Honiks provides access to qualified Chinese factories producing forged steel valves to both EN/DIN and ANSI standards. Our role is to match your specifications — size, pressure rating, material grade, connection type and applicable standard — to the right manufacturing capability, and to coordinate documentation, quality inspection and export logistics throughout the procurement process.
