What Are Soft Seal Valves?
Soft seal valves use a resilient seat material such as EPDM, PTFE or rubber to create the sealing surface between the disc and the valve body. The resilient seat material deforms slightly under closing pressure, providing effective shut-off for compatible media. Soft seal designs are commonly used in butterfly valves for water, low-pressure industrial and utility service where the seat material is chemically compatible with the pipeline medium.
